FattyFest

So we're a bit into a football season and all K-State fans are probably thinking, "Hey, when's FattyFest this year???"

Well unfortunately, we hit a bit of a snag with this pandemic that's been in the news recently and makes it a bit problematic for loads of people to travel to and huddle in our favorite basement bar, so it's looking like we'll be taking 2020 off.

Peggy Po's: we already finished raising all the money, so no big deal there! And now going forward, we don't have to worry about money so FattyFest can continue as celebrations of Fatty in any way we can dream up. We're already thinking of what the 2021 'fest could be, and are hoping we can honor not just Fatty but all of you who've helped make this a reality over nearly a decade.

Stay well and stay tuned...

FattyFest History

Just a few months after Shwan’s passing, the first annual FattyFest was held at Auntie Mae’s in Aggieville, Manhattan, KS. Each year, FattyFest serves as both the Memorial Fund’s primary fundraising event as well as a celebration of Shwan’s life.

Each FattyFest has featured a special Fatty-inspired edition of Auntie Mae’s “Trivia Smackdown” hosted by Jeff Kreuser, along with a raffle and silent auction that has included items ranging from VIP seats to K-State games and rare EMAW memorabilia to the more irreverent of collectibles such as KSTATEO posters and authentic Egyptian camel saddles. Past FattyFests have also included concerts featuring many different musical genres, comedy shows, karaoke, celebrity appearances, impromptu magic performances and many other unplanned shenanigans.  It is an event not to be missed.

thank you to our sponsors

Finally, we would be remiss to not thank our past and current sponsors that have helped made FattyFest a truly wonderful tradition.  Local business sponsors have included Auntie Mae’s, The Chef, Colbert Hills, The Hi-Lo, K-State Online, The Bluemont Hotel, Rock-A-Belly Deli, Taco Lucha, So Long Saloon, and Harry’s Uptown.  Additionally, too many people to be named have helped support the event and the Memorial Fund over the years by donating time, money, or items to be auctioned and raffled and we thank each and every one of you.
